THE SOHO COBRAS: First gigs booked, acoustic demos up and drinking

Been having a busy few weeks. I'm really excited about how things are shaping up.

Despite four of us getting so drunk in Crobar the other hight that Dave passed out, then Colin puked, then Dave had to be carried out and promptly fell in Colin's puke, we've been getting a lot done.

First up, as an interim measure before we can get into the studio properly and just because it was fun, we've recorded a few acoustic tracks. I am really keen to get some proper demos done of all the new material, but for now here's a slightly drunk me and Hazel:
Playing some rough n ready acoustic versions. They are simplified "campfire" acoustic performances, so you get the basic song minus the solos and... well any of the fiddly bits, but like I said were great fun to play, so here's

"HERE AGAIN" (Acoustic) available for free download and streaming at last.fm

and

"BLACK HEART" (Acoustic) available for free download and streaming at last.fm

The first gig is also getting a bit closer:
I am really fucking stoked about this.

But if you're in Oxford on the 19th of March then come and check out the Sleaze-Punk Rollercoaster that will be THE SOHO COBRAS live!

I also just heard today that Dave and Colin have recorded drums for 3 tracks so there will be some full band demos on the way very soon!

EDIT:
I just got  news that we do have one full band demo up on last.fm, so go have a look:

"GET IT ON" (Demo) by THE SOHO COBRAS

It's there for free download and for full song streaming.

GO COBRAS! :-)

"Eugine's Trick Bag" Cover on youtube...

I've had the day off today so I've been playing with my new video camera...

I've finally posted some video on youtube, the first of lots more to come. For now all I've got is a quick cover of the solo "Eugine's Trick Bag," the finale solo from the 1986 film "Crossroads" which stared Steve Vai as the devil's axe man,  Jack butler. Anyhow at the end the Karate kid plays this to defeat Mr Butler in a guitar duel and save his soul.

All good wholesome fun, except I've been trying to play it for 4 years!

I learned it note for note about 4 years ago but I've only really been working at getting it up to speed for the last year or so, but I'm finally getting there. Not "there" enough to play it live, or standing up, but "there" enough to video myself playing it in the comfort of my own home and make strangers watch it on the internet.

So here it is me having a go at "Eugine's Trick Bag."

THE SOHO COBRAS: First demo featuring Hazel...

Just a quick note to say that we have done a couple of tracks acoustically so we can get our new singer Hazel's voice out there for you to here as fast as we could.

A couple didn't come out that great, partly because I had drunk 2 bottles of wine and partly because I am not great on acoustic guitar.

There's a world of difference I think between "playing acoustic guitar" and being an electric guitar player that occasionally bashes out a song on acoustic.
I have been spoiled I think playing my beautiful hand made French widdle machines, so it was a bit of a shock to suddenly have huge string and a highish action to wrestle with. I wanted to do a better job with the guitars since the vocals are really soaring, but I think all things considered the guitars came out ok.

There's a mini player below where you can check out the track. This is HERE AGAIN (acoustic), by THE SOHO COBRAS
